The Innovation Career Pathways Community of Practice events are offered in several different formats as described below:
Workshops
Sessions (in-person or virtual) designed to provide opportunities for supported design and continuous improvement for pathway planning and implementation teams. These sessions focus on priority topics for educators planning and implementing pathways.
Program Spotlights
Taking the the form of both in-person site visits and virtual webinars with student, educator and employer partner voices, program spotlights are designed to model, share and support examples of current Innovation Career Pathways practices across the network.
Professional Learning Communities
Monthly virtual meetings intended to foster collaborative and reflective learning in the MAICP community of practitioners; organized by industry sector and role, participants commit to attending a multi-meeting series.
Network Convenings
These larger convenings include workshop sessions, industry and/or student panels, and shared learning for designee schools.
Field Experiences
New for 24-25, MAICP will offer two Field Experiences, giving small groups of ICP educators and their students an opportunity to learn together from an interactive day visit to a site of interest to a specified industry sector.
Office Hours
Drop in help sessions twice a year to support district/school teams who are actively working on a designation application. DESE and CCE team members are available anytime during these sessions to answer questions.
Event content is determined based on the needs of Community of Practice members. Some events are meant for all members, whether they are interested in learning about Innovation Career Pathways, in the process of completing an application, or a current designee. Other events contain content that is for members in a specific stage of the application or implementation process. Details and registration information on events will be emailed to the listserv and posted to the MAICP website 4-6 weeks in advance of the event.

For 2024-25, we are offering a three-session PLC series for pathway educators in each of the six broad industry sectors and two additional PLC series on high-priority topics. The industry sector PLCs are intended for teachers of pathway courses as well as internship/pathway coordinators working in those sectors. PLCs will be co-facilitated by a Peer Ambassador with experience in the sector and a CCE or DESE co-facilitator. The two additional PLC will be for pathway course teachers from schools with higher percentages of high-need students, and a PLC on making the case for your pathways through collecting and sharing impactful measures of their value.
You are welcome to register for and participate in more than one PLC – but please, when you register, make a commitment to participate in all three one-hour meetings in the series. The goals of the PLCs are to:
These goals cannot be achieved without your attendance and engagement! PLCs are not recorded, so you need to be present to participate. The agendas will emphasize participant-generated dialogue, problem-solving, and resource-sharing, and over the course of three sessions, we guarantee you will both give and receive valuable knowledge, strategies, and feedback from the group.
